Why Am I Running

My passion for people of all ages, races and creeds has afforded me to opportunity to understand the diverse cultural differences in educational needs and goals.

As Superintendent of Leon County, my goal is that we customize our best wholistic approach for our students.

When exiting high school, they should not only graduate with a diploma and a college course, but be one of the best applicants for college, into the workforce, trade school and or military. Students should leave with a feeling of success and accomplishment.

Why Am I Running

1.) Ensure a great security and safety structure for our entire education system; staff, teachers and students.

2.) Improve Data, Communication and Performance Measures from the students by providing a wholistic learning environment. Each child deserves to reach "their" potential.

3.) Increase individual educational awareness for our Special Needs students by putting emphasis in structured learning. (autism, IEP's, ESE, Gifted).

4.) To gain the trust of all employees. Work on decreasing healthcare fees, increase personal time and teamwork in all areas.

5.) Holding Parents and Students accountable for completion and quality of work.

6. Empowering young adults as valuable and competitive assets, as individuals into the world.

By doing so, it's a must that parents get involved! Our students deserve the best support system during this life long journey.

History

Why Am I Running

History

I have a BA in Public Administration, pursuing my Masters in Public Administration.

Shortly after high school I joined the Army of 10 and half years, where I was responsible for a budget of 1.5 million dollars, 200 fleet of vehicles and logistics. I reported numbers and data to Captains, Colonels, and the Post Battalion Commander.

I have spent over 15 years participating in various ways in the educational system. I have served on School Advisory Council (SAC), District Advisory Council (DAC), Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and English as Second other Language (ESOL) committees in numerous and various locations.

During these 15 years: I have seen the accomplishments along with the lack and struggle in the classrooms. As an advocate, and attending conferences while with the PTA, I learned the verbiage and how to petition on "Legislative Days" at the capitol. This deepen my understanding of the policies and procedures of different bills.
